The Metropolitan Girls’ Shelter was located next to Bidura Children’s Home in a separate building on Avon Street, Glebe. The Shelter was run by the Child Welfare Department for girls awaiting hearings in the Metropolitan Children’s Court. It opened around 1923 and closed in 1978.
