Year Opened: 1967
Year Closed: 1980s
The original property “West Winds” was a dairy farm. The government purchased the property in the 1960’s and erected the new building as a home for disadvantaged boys, which opened in 1967. These boys attended the local Woodbridge Area School.
Some boys were first accommodated with the Farm Manager and his family in the original farm house.
In 1980 the home was closed for the boys, and the people from the area formed a local committee to investigate possible uses for the property. After many years the government agreed to the building being used as a Community Centre, which was officially opened in 1990.
