Thorington was opened on the 26th May 1973 by Mr W C Langshaw who was the Under Secretary of the New South Wales Department of Child Welfare and Social Services. The Home was situated at Corrimal, near Wollongong. It was the first of the Baptist Trust’s AS White Homes for Children.
Thorington closed as a children’s home in December 1981.
