This is the first UPA Home. Rathgar opened in 1941, initially accomodating both boys and girls. By 1942 Rathgar was full to capacity with 23 children, so Rathmore, next door, was bought and refurbished to provide accommodation for 12 infants under the age of seven. The capacity of the two homes reached a peak of 55 children. The property was sold in 1985 and is currently used as a half-way house for ex-prisoners.
