In May 1965, an application was made to have the licence changed to allow the admission of boys to Coventry Home and a policy to give preference to brothers of girls already there was decided upon.

A short time later two small boys were admitted.  With the closure of the Ohio War Memorial Home for Boys at Walcha in 1966, the number of children at Coventry Home steadily increased until in August, there were 13 girls and 6 boys in residence.

In the 1980’s the home was called on by the NSW Department of Youth and Community Services (YACS) to provide short erm care for children in crisis situations.
