For further information about this Home, please refer to: For the Record.
Clarendon Children’s Home developed from an 1890s Anglican establishment caring for ‘fallen women and their children’. When the Home closed, the remaining children were moved from dormitories to hostel care. Currently children are placed with foster carers or, wherever possible, with kinship carers, but Clarendon continued to operate until 22 December 2007.
Courtesy to Danny Ransley for providing updated information on former homies seeking personal information.
From an email we have found out that people who were placed at Clarendon Children’s Homes who contact CLAN and who are seeking personal information should be advised that they can contact Deborah Harris at Wise Lord & Ferguson (Chartered Accountants).
Deborah is the Secretary for the Clarendon Board and the records are being held by Wise Lord & Ferguson. Naturally a person seeking a personal record would need to establish their identity. Some of the older records are not extensive and callers should be advised to also contact the After Care Support Program as it is possible that the Department may be holding more detailed records.
Deborah can be contacted on (03) 6223 6155, or
