The Catherine McAuley Centre was run by the Sisters of Mercy on the former St Joseph’s Girls’ Orphanage site. It was named after the founder of the Sisters of Mercy. It housed State Wards and Children who were privately placed. In the mid-1970’s boys and girls lived at the Home. The Home offered short, medium and long-term accommodation.
