Bethcar Children’s Home was a State-run foster care facility which opened in 1969 and it was located in Brewarrina. Bethcar Children’s Home was run by a married couple, Burt and Edith Gordon, who was funded by the State, from 1974-1984.

The home ‘cared’ for 24 Aboriginal children. Stolen Generations member David Nolan wrote about growing up here in his poem ‘Mission Breed (page 14)’.
