Weymouth was a national institution school providing long-term care in the South of Auckland for girls who were not able to be placed or treated in community settings such as foster homes or family homes. From 1977 Weymouth provided long-term care for girls who were committed by the Children and Young Persons Court. The home itself played no part in who was admitted or when.
