The Warilda Children’s Home and Warilda Infants’ Home was a state-run institution situated at Wooloowin. Until 1964, it was previously known as the Diamantina Receiving Home. The report of the Commission of Inquiry into Abuse of Children in Queensland Institutions (1999) stated that clothing was manufactured at Warilda, and that this clothing was provided to other State-run institutions in Queensland. “Made by all accounts entirely without regard to current fashion, it was a source of humiliation to some, at least, who had to wear it”
