St Joseph’s Home, Neerkol, [also known as Meteor Park Orphanage, Neerkol Orphanage] was established in 1885 by Bishop John Cani DD, Bishop of Rockhampton in conjunction with the Sisters of Mercy of the Rockhampton Congregation.  The home was located on the Capricorn Highway.
