The Lutheran Emergency Home for Children was opened in 1966 in Unley and was run by the Lutheran Church of Australia.

The Home was run as emergency accommodation for children between the ages of two and 12 in need of short term care.  According to the 1978 statistics of the Home, the average stay was 22 day.

School aged children attended local schools and churches. The Emergency Childrens’ Home ceased operating in 1984, it then became a Home for People with Disabilities which continues to be run by the Lutherans.
