Glen Eden
NSW
Australia
Provider: UPA (United Protestant Association)
Year Opened: 29th April 1947
Year Closed: December 1961
The property was originally a Boys’ Grammar School used by Portuguese Timor refugees and a convent from Brisbane for WWII.
The property was later purchased in 1946 and opened as a Home for Boys. It was closed in 1961 as the home was ‘too isolated’.
The home sat on 17 acres surrounded by Oliver, Lawrence Cross and Oxford Street, in the near backstreets of Glen Innes, not too far from the centre of town.
Many thanks to Ron for providing the image and updated information.
