Also known as Fairfield Girls Memorial Home or Central Mission Girls’ Memorial Home.
The Girls Memorial Home, in Fairfield, opened in 1962. It was a maternity home run by Wesley Central Mission. Many of the young women’s babies were tranferred from the Girls’ Memorial Home to Methodist Babies Home in South Yarra. In 1973, it became Georgina House, a refuge for victims of domestic violence.
