The Rural Training Farm was used particularly for child migrants sent out from the Church of Scotland. It also took in orphans or homeless boys. With 50 children placed there at its peak in the 1950’s, numbers reduced in the early 1960’s and the facility closed in 1964. The property was sold in 1965.
