Ashendene Boys’ Home, was opened in 1966. The Victorian Government purchased the property in an attempt to fix the overcrowding problem at Allambie and Turana. It was originally opened to house boys aged 10-15 and from 1977 began to house boys 14-18 in need of long term accommodation.
