Contribute to the Oral History Project
On the 16 November 2009 Australia acknowledged and apologised to the Forgotten Australians and Former Child Migrants. As announced in the Apology, the National Library is conducting an oral history project to record the lives and experiences of Forgotten Australians and Former Child Migrants. Interviews will be conducted across Australia and will be preserved in the National Library. The 3 year project aims to document a rounded history of the experiences of children in institutional and out of home care and the lifelong impact of these experiences on their lives and their families. The project will also interview a selection of advocates, and allied professionals including welfare officers, employees and administrators. ... more

SA Forgotten Australian Memorial- Calling for Artists
The South Australian Government, following the Forgotten Australians report and its recommendation (34) for 'the Commonwealth and State Governments, in conjunction with the churches and agencies, provide funding for the erection of suitable memorials commemorating care leavers' has announced funding to contribute towards a memorial acknowledging Australians who resided in orphanages, children's homes and foster homes as children. This funding is in conjunction with the Federal Government and church agencies.
The SA Government is calling for expressions of interest from professional artists or artist teams to undertake this project. They are particuarly interested in hearing from artist who may have grown up in care.

Member's Section of CLAN's Website:

As a member of CLAN you can access the member's section of this website for the latest news, information on socials and reunions and photographs.

Please note you need to be a Care Leaver member of CLAN to login to the member's section.

Your login details include your username which is your email address and YOU need to provide CLAN with a password (preferably 6 characters long with a number).

To login please forward your username and desired password to admin@clan.org.au and we will log you in as soon as possible.
