Following my recent newsletter to my electorate, I would like to update the House on the forgotten Australians and on a personal experience. I have a particular affinity and empathy for the forgotten Australians as a result of my own family history. The Loss of Kevin Kane
On Monday 15 June 2009 CLAN member Kevin Kane, passed away. Kevin was a member of CLAN for a number of years, and loved to contribute jokes to the Clanicle newsletter. And despite his long battle with cancer, Kevin always attended the Silent Protests in Melbourne with his hand made sign wrapped in plastic. His wife, Tennina would also always come with Kevin to support the work of CLAN.
Kevin grew up in Beaconsfield Babies' Home and Kildonan.
Our condolences to Kevin's wife, Tennina, and his family.

Last year we asked our members to send mothers day cards to ministers in the the states and territories who haven't been given redress. As we are still waiting for this to happen we are asking our members to once again send a mothers' day card. On 7th April 2009 the Australian Senate Community Affairs Committee held a public hearing in Bankstown to review the progress of the response to the recommendations of both the 'Lost Innocents' (child migrants) and 'Forgotten Australians' Reports. On the day the senators involved came along to look over the orphanage museum at CLAN's office. Senate Inquiry Public Hearings
The Australian Senate Community Affairs Committee is holding an inquiry into the progress of the response to the recommendations of both the 'Lost Innocents' (child migrants) and 'Forgotten Australians' Reports. Public hearings have been organised around the country so please go along and wear your CLAN badge.
